IT'S JUST NOT TRUE!!!
You do have a choice and most importantly a responsibility to be healthy. Here's the low down. If you eat more calories than you expend, you gain weight. I know you are staring at the computer screen bewildered by this info. But believe me, my friends, it's absolutely true. Another, piece of valuable information is: every 3500 calories equals a pound of fat! Now, I don't blame you if you are stunned right about now. That's okay, I'll wait. . . .
Now that you have yourself together let's do the math. If you overeat 500 calories a day, you will gain 1 pound a week. Doesn't sound like much until you realize that in one year that is 52 pounds. Now, you may think 500 calories sounds like a lot, but you go and look at how much a serving of blue bunny fudge track ice cream is, and then think about how much of that ice cream you REALLY eat. BAM!! There is your extra 500 calories. Pretty scary. Let's move on to something a little more exciting.
Let's pretend that you cut out 250 calories a day from your average calorie day. As long as you are in the negative 250 calories you will loose a pound every 2 weeks. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but for not exercising, that's pretty easy. You can always kick it up by adding 60 minutes of cardio and eat a 1800 diet to loose weight faster.
The easiest way to accomplish your weight lose goals is to write it all down. What you eat and how much you move. Then you can do the MATH!!

Jessie ,
I love that you are setting the record straight here. that is great information about the 500 calories. Very motivating. Please don't stop this blog. I can't believe you don't get more feedback . i just sent it to my girls they will start making comments. You are awesome. love you Aunt Renee
This is exactly what the diet and nutrition expert said in his four hour lecture at the Fitness Fest. I love the free program on livestrong.com where you can record all calories and exercise. It is very easy to use and has nutritional information for anything you can eat (25 choices came up when I typed in Thai green curry chicken)It gives you awards for consistently recording your diet and exercise (10, 30, 100 days ribbons next to your profile name) It's just like a budget. If you don't record and plan it's hard to meet your goals.
